Some German Big Cats rebased for Spearhead

Been a while since I updated my very irregular blog, but I have been making some progress in rebasing a whole lot of German WW2 AFV's onto larger 30mm x 60mm bases ready to face their Allied opponents and I took a few photos one lunchtime recently while working from home. I have used a mixture of Heroics and Ros, C in C and GHQ models for this lot that I have acquired from various sources over time.

First up is an overview of the Panzer 4 and Tiger battalions, along with some other big cats (Jagdtigers, Jagdpanthers, Elefants and Tiger II's and a Sturmtiger) behind them:

Then we have the Panther battalion and regimental HQ of a 1944 Panzer Division photographed while still on the workbench. I'm really pleased how the drybrushed Red-Brown and Green camoflauge mottling turned out on the these. I'm using a 50:50 mix of two locally made flocks which gives a good "steppe" like base colour.  The larger bases are broken up with various Gamers Grass tufts which are available from my FLGS (friendly local gaming store) - Thanks Scott!

Some GHQ (or C in C?) Tigers on the left along with supporting SP flak. Engineers and Recce stands are equipped with Sdkfz 251 halftracks. On the right is the GHQ Panzer IVH battalion, the other part of the Panzer Division's Panzer regiment.

And some of the "big cats", a understrength Tiger II company with a Jagdtiger in front with another in the second row, along with two Jagdpanthers and a Sturmtiger. All these are Heroics and Ros models.

Further down the back are some Hetzers (or Jagdpanzer 38 (Sd.Kfz. 138/2) if you're fussy) in ambush positions, the other Tiger II company and two Elefants round out the parade. Again these are all very nice looking Heroics and Ros casts.

Another shot of the Panzer IVH battalion....

And a final shot of the Tiger Battalion and its support stands.
